Correction/Fix on Enhanced Vendor Management

With release of Ver. 4.8.74 in October of last year, we were pleased to announce an enhanced system for managing your list of vendors.

There was a very large operational benefit we were seeking to achieve. Specifically, it was to have the system know in regard to each specific part what is the particular "Distributor Account Number" that should be filled-in for you (as opposed to simply having a default vendor), on the NARDA claim.

It turns out there was a defect in our understanding of what's needed in this context. We have now overhauled and fixed that flaw. We have also revised the WorkDiary entry that was posted, back then, so that it instructs in a manner that correctly fits the fixed scheme.

Show Vendors in DispatchMap

This is a new function in the Enhanced Vendor Management system.

We give credit for this to Daniel Bierle at Appliance Repair Specialists. Often, in Daniel's operation, CSRs know they'd like to have a technician swing by a vendor depot so as to pickup one or more parts. Thus, they wish to see on the DispatchMap where their vendors are located  as compared to where a technician is otherwise driving.

Now this is easy to do.

Simply, in your VendorsList.csv file (see this entry for detailed instructions on how generally to create and manage this file), use the fifth column (Column E) to indicate, for each/any vendor, the DispatchMap grid reference where you'd like that vendor's location to be displayed. If you wish to display multiple locations for a single vendor, simply list multiple grid references with each separated by a bar symbol:

With such locations indicated, they will display in your DispatchMap as grey dots, with the applicable vendor abbreviation within each (similar to the following):
