You may pick any desktop to install and run the utility from. Regardless, it should be installed into the same \sd folder from which the involved station also runs ServiceDesk (i.e., into the server's \sd folder if the involved station runs in "thin-client" mode or to that station's c:\sd folder if it's running in "thick-client" mode).

1. To install the program, visit the downloads page.

2. Double-click on the downloaded file to run the self-extractor.

   

3. Select Run.

   

4. Designate your \sd folder as the correct unzip path.

   

5. Click OK to conclude the unzip process. Close the self-extractor window.

   

After extracting your DM-DispatchLink, create a desktop shortcut for the utility. Run it, and you'll be almost ready to go.

It is a good idea to place a copy of the program's shortcut into the Windows Startup folder so that you can count on the program reliably running after each/any Windows reboot.

Your normal Dispatch.Me credentials (i.e., the ones you use to log in to your online interface with Dispatch.Me) will not work for this purpose. It's a different set of required credentials, and you must contact Dispatch.Me to acquire this different set.

1. Please send an email request to support@dispatch.me to acquire these credentials. Explain that you are setting up to use Rossware's “Second-Generation Connector” utility (that is their expression for our current DM-DispatchLink utility), and you need a “Second-Generation Set of Connection Strings” that will allow it to connect to their system. Their support team should reply with the set of strings that you need.

   

2. Provide the initials of the desk user who will receive the active CallSheets when new jobs are downloaded.

   

3. Select the appropriate options under Uploading of Job Status.
