Highlights:

Release Details

Improved Core Handling

It has been observed that cores were displaying in Parts Pick Management as needing to be returned by the tech after the part had already been returned back to the office. It was discovered that the system was incorrectly handling the updated part status “HpToRtrn” and “RtToVndr” and erroneously concluding those parts were still needed back from the tech. This has now been corrected and cores properly marked via the HoldLoc field with the in-process return statuses will not trigger the part to be displayed as needing to be returned by the tech.

Improved Late Part Handling

Occasionally a part is on order and does not arrive before a job is completed or cancelled. When these parts are already in transit from the parts distributor or manufacturer, they cannot be cancelled and must still be received and accounted for even if they’re being immediately returned to the sender for credit.

In most cases, when a job is in completed or recorded to sales journal status, ServiceDesk prevents or requires user approval to move a job out of either of these statuses. However, it was found that receiving the delayed parts could result in the job being removed from completed or recorded to sales journal status by the part check-in process.

Additionally, it was further discovered that checking-in parts to an in-process job could pull a linked job out of completed status. This update prevents this from happening by requiring the user to confirm their desire to remove the job from completed or recorded to sales journal status.

Note: It should be noted that a “best practice” recommendation is to remove reciprocal job links from any completed job. The reciprocal jobs links serve to prevent users from scheduling jobs at the same location with different techs, on different days, or sending a tech to complete a repair on appliance A while parts are still pending for appliance B. When a job has been completed, the reciprocal job links to the completed job are no longer needed and can be removed from the open job(s).

Minor Fixes and Improvements

Other minor fixes and improvements found in this version update are:

  • Added vendor to the Parts Pick Management export.
